Grandville Boys Cross Country

What does it take to be a Grandville cross country runner?

Slide through to learn a little bit more about what it takes to be a Grandville cross country runner.

Year round training

This takes dedication. You will need to run in all weather conditions. Just enjoy the lovely sites and you'll be fine.

Teamwork

To the misbelief of others, this sport requires teamwork to help each other through races. Without a team, you're just another lone runner.

A positive attitude

A positive attitude is key to success in cross country running. Running races are 80% mental. You need to know that you can run faster... because you can.

Mental Toughness = Success

A little about us:

Boys cross country is a fall sport. We are in the OK Red division. The cross country team consists of the JV and Varsity members who both practice together. The varsity team is made up of the 7 fastest runners on the entire team. Everyone else becomes a member of the JV team until they break into the top 7. You can lose your spot as a Varsity member at any time if you do not finish with one of the top 7 fastest times. This is all part of being in a competitive sport.

We often run hundreds of miles each year. We are Grandville Bulldogs who take pride in what we do. We run in all weather conditions. On some runs, icicles will form on your eyelashes. On others, we might sweat buckets in a heat index of 110°+. Most of the time, we do run because we love to. Running is our passion and this is our sport. The feeling of leaving everything out there in a race is sometimes the best one to experience. This is Grandville Cross Country.

The rest of the team

The rest of the team usually consists of between 25-35 boys each year. We can often be found running the streets of Grandville year round--but mostly in the fall. If you ever spot our team, or one of us on the road, feel free to honk at us as you pass by.
