Kingdom Hearts is a video game series made by SquareEnix, a Japanese video game and publishing company. SquareEnix teamed up with Disney Interactive to create this magical action-fantasy video game. The game takes themed settings from original classic Disney movies and puts them into many different worlds to explore and interact with the many characters who come from that world.
The story follows Sora, a courageous cheerful teenager, (voiced by Haley Joel Osment) who goes on a journey to find his friends. While meeting a few new ones on the way. Kairi (voiced by Hayden Panettiere) and Riku (voiced by David Gallagher) are Sora's closest friends, he would do anything for them. Once the three are separated Sora's determined to go on a neverending search for them.
As his adventure begins Sora is faced with some of the wildest creatures he's ever seen, the Heartless. The Heartless are hearts that are corrupted by darkness, which lack a body and soul. This is the most common enemy in the whole game. The Heartless seek to devour the hearts of citizens of their world. They then began to thrive and spread to other worlds, which becomes Sora's mission: to defeat the Darkness.
As Sora's world gets turned upside down he realizes he must save his new friends, as well as his old friends. The Heartless have devoured many worlds and his could be next. As he is swept away from his island and tranferred into world's unknown to him, he meets his new team of friends, Goofy and Donald Duck, who seek the Keyblade Master to help save their world and find their king, King Mickey. In order to save their world the Keyblade Master uses his Keyblade to seal the keyholes of each world. The keyblade originally chose Riku to be the Keyblade Master, but because Riku's heart gave in to the darkness, the keyblade chose Sora because his heart is strong and pure. While parading around different worlds...Sora must save the seven Princesses of Heart, whose hearts are of pure light. And the only ones born naturally free of darkness. Maleficent, the main antagonist of the game, has taken control of the Heartless. She is the one trying to take the hearts of the seven princesses to perfect her dark powers. But what she doesn't know is that the Heartless are actually using her.
