“People haven’t always been there for me, but music always has.”
Taylor Alison Swift is an amazing country singer. Taylor was born on December 13, 1989. Growing up, she developed a love for country music. By the age of 10, she began performing at festivals, fairs and sang at karaoke contests. When she was 12, she handed copies of her demo tape to all of the receptionists on Music Row in Nashville.Taylor faced a lot of rejection, both from record labels and her peers. She channeled those feelings of rejection into one of her early songs, 'The Outside.' On her return from Nashville, Swift was invited to sing the national anthem at the US Open tennis tournament.
Taylor Swift is my favorite artist, and alot of young girls can relate to her. Taylor sings about her boy drama, as well as her real life experiences. Freshmen year I went to my first Taylor Swift concert with my cousins Amber and Lexi, and brother Jake. We were able to win tickets off B93 because she wasn't that popular yet,and we had really good seats. We absolutely loved her! Ever since then I've been going to all her concerts. Last year I went to the fearless tour and we got floor seats, they were pretty far away from the stage and it was hard to see over the tall people infront of us. But we made our own fearless t-shirts and had a huge sign made on a bed sheet and held it up. It said "we love you Taylor" and Taylor's mom saw it and moved us up to the front row! My friends and I were so excited; we were so close we could touch the stage. I'm looking forward to this years speak now concert in July. I highly Recommend anyone going to a Taylor Swift concert or just listening to her music.
Making her Big Break:
Taylor's family realized her talent and determination, and they made regular trips to Nashville. At the age of 14, she became the youngest songwriter signed to a publishing deal with Sony/ATV. This is when the family packed up and moved to Hendersonville, TN. At a showcase at the Bluebird Cafe, Taylor caught the attention of Big Machine Records, who was at the time planning to launch a new label. Taylor's career was born. Her self-titled debut was released in 2006. It hit the top of the charts and has sold over 2.5 million copies, earning her a Platinum album.
The second song to be released from the Taylor Swift album was 'Teardrops on My Guitar'.
